Eleanor Louise Kuski, 94, of Thomas, WV passed away January 11, 2014 at Cortland Acres.
She was born August 20, 1919 in Thomas, WV a daughter of the late Alonzo Tecumseh and Florence Louise Colburn Shoemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Kuski, whom she married on March 14, 1942 and was married for 53 years before his death in 1995. Also preceding her in death were five brothers; Jack, Harold, Robert, Louie and Alan Shoemaker and five sisters; Betty Shoemaker, Susie Winters, Marian Close, Hartzell Burley and Katherine Hamrick and one son –in-law, Dale Martin. Survivors include one daughter; Sharon Martin, Thomas, WV, one brother; Richard Shoemaker and wife Eunice, Barbonton, Ohio, one sister-in-law Shelley Shoemaker, Savage, Maryland, two grandchildren; Peter S. Martin and Ted Thompson, Pittsburgh, PA, Elaine (Erik) Geroski, Oakland, MD, three great-grandchildren; Vivian Geroski, Kristen Geroski and Zachary Martin.
Eleanor was a graduate of Thomas High School. She was a Protestant by faith with a strong belief in her Christian values. She read Our Daily Bread devotional pamphlet every day. She enjoyed walking, bowling, crafts, baking and cooking and spending time with her family.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Monday January 13, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday January 14 from 9-11a.m. the funeral hour. The Rev. Neil Parsons officiated. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com
