Elizabeth Ann Swantek, 88, a resident of Cortland Acres, went home to be with our Lord on August 15, 2013 after a long battle with Dementia. She was born January 19, 1925 in Davis,  a daughter of the late Jacob (Swiontek) Swantek and Anna Elizabeth Wojtowicz, Fisher, Maleonskie, Swantek. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Walter John Maleonskie, Francis Simon Maleonskie, and Catherine May Swantek.
Surviving is one sister Helen Marie Swantek Wilson, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. She graduated Valedictorian from Davis High School in May 1942. Ms. Swantek served her Country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946 . She attended and graduated from UCLA with an AA in 1949, continuing her education she graduated from UC Barkeley in 1951 with a BA. She was employed by the C. I. A. in 1951, completing tours of duty in Munich, Germany 1951-1953, Helsinki, Finland 1955-1957, and New Delhi, India 1965-1967. When she was not overseas, she was assigned in Washington, D. C. where she retired from the C. I. A. in 1975. She returned to Davis to take care of her mother who passed in 1990. Ms. Swantek managed Betty’s Bazaar, and then resided in Petersburg,  before returning to Davis to take care of her sister Helen.
Friends were received Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Hinkle Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was  held 11 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2013 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Timothy Grassi as celebrant. Interment  followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Condolences may be made to the family at www.hinklefuneralhome.com Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
