Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Grow Knotts

Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Grow Knotts, age 90 years, a resident of Parsons, WV and more recently a resident of New Oxford, PA, departed this life early Tuesday morning, December 29, 2015 at the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford, PA.

She was born Thursday, September 17, 1925 at Thomas, WV, a son of the late Earland and Blanche Perks Grow. On July 1, 1950 at Red House, MD, she was married to Luke Knotts, Sr., who preceded her in death December 26, 1986.

Surviving are one son, Luke R. Knotts, Jr. and wife Ruth of Littlestown, PA; one granddaughter, Candace Reagan and husband Mike of Gettysburg, PA and Lindsay Krug and husband Jesse of Hanover, PA; one sister, Margaret Roy of Blackman Flats; four grandchildren, Dustin Mathew Reagan, Alexis and Milana Krug and Amayia Elizabeth Gladfelter; one special niece, Patty Dilly and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death are three brothers, Earl Grow, Harry Grow and William Bill Grow; three sisters, Dorothy Armentrout, Georgie Dumire and Mary Doughtery.

She attended Thomas High School. She worked for Mura Coopers Restaurant and the Princess Shop at Thomas, WV and Stewarts Confectionary Store at Baltimore, MD, where she and her husband lived for twenty-six years before coming back to Parsons in 1979. She was an active member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, a member of the Women’s Sunday School Class and a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Women. She had received a plaque and Gold Cross, a gift for special Mission recognition, by the United Methodist Women in April 1994, and a Mother of the Year Plaque in May of 1995.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Sunday, January 3, 2016 from Noon until 1 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Sunday at 1p.m. The Reverend Phil Dent officiated and interment followed at the Rose Hill Cemetery at Thomas, WV. The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the St. Johns United Methodist Church, 107 River Ave, Parsons, WV. 26287. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Grow Knotts. Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com
