Elmo Dale Wiles, 84, a resident of Morgantown passed from this life on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Morgantown. He had been in declining health.
Elmo was born Saturday, October 6, 1928 in Tucker County, a son of the late William McKinley Wiles and Hazel Lolita James Wiles. On May 31, 1951, he was married to the former Enid Ruth White who survives in Morgantown.
Also left to cherish Elmo’s memory are his four children, Patricia Wiles of Morgantown, Elmo Dale Wiles, Jr. and wife, Beverly of Morgantown, Pamela Wallace and husband, Tim of Clarksburg, and Greg Zane Wiles and wife, Susan of Morgantown, three brothers, Robert Wiles and wife, Roberta of Morgantown, William Wiles and wife, Mary of Buckhannon, and Donovan Wiles and wife, Connie of Seattle, WA, three sisters, Edith Ann Miller of Wheeling, Doris Macioli, and Martha Rafuse, both of Morgantown, nine grandchildren, Josh Sandone, Candice Kerns, Jeremy Wiles, Jacob Wiles, Scott Wallace, David Wallace, Thomas Wallace, Sarah Wiles Partyka, Ethan Wiles, Jane Markie, and Anna Flanagan, four great grandchildren, Maddy, Sophia, Geno, and Josiah, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Elmo in death were two sisters, Carol Jean Leudenburg and Violet Joyce Radcliff.
Elmo attended the schools of Tucker County and had served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He, along with his wife, Enid, co-owned and operated E&E Construction, and he had worked for Morgantown Plumbing and Heating for over thirty years. Elmo loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing, but one of his greatest loves was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Sycamore Grove Church.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Summerfield Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 1p.m. Reverend Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery on the Location Road where members of the H.W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion, Tygarts Valley Post #3647, Veteran of Foreign Wars, the WV Honor Guard, and the Tucker County Veterans Association will conduct full military honors. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Golden Living Center in Morgantown, Dr. Tangier, nurses, and staff (a special thanks to Rita and Tammy) at the Westover VA Clinic, and Samantha at the VA Counseling Office. The Summerfield Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Elmo Dale Wiles.
