Elwood G. Carr, 89, of Red Creek, WV, passed away on December 22, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. Born on August 24, 1933, in Sully, WV, he was the son of the late Miriam Carr Cooper.

Elwood was a graduate of Harman High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Flanagan Hill United Methodist Church and most recently attended the Red Creek Bethel Church. He worked for Fairmont Foods as a milkman and later for the WV State Parks where he was as a jack of all trades. His favorite job was caring for his farm that he lived on. Elwood enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling, especially if that meant a beach trip. He loved watching his grandchildren play, quiet days with his wife on the back deck watching the birds, and taking side by side rides with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosalie (Brasher) Carr, to whom he was married on April 1, 1957. Also surviving are five children, James T. Carr and wife Terry of Parkersburg, Ronald G. Carr of Hendricks, John Carr and wife Jannene of Martinsburg, Lisa Corbitt and husband Mike of Hendricks, and Scott Carr and wife Mariel of Aurora; nine grandchildren, Amber Postlethwait and husband Will, Cory Carr and wife Emily, Jordan Corbitt and partner Brittany Bennett, Mindy Heckler and husband David, Evan Carr and partner Melissa Appenzellar, Adam Carr and partner Elizabeth Traversie, Brendon Corbitt, Blake Corbitt and partner Zoie Howell, and Laurel Carr; ten great grandchildren, Harrison Roberts, Hannah Heckler, Kinzy Corbitt, Henry Carr, Madalynn Carr, Troy Heckler, Emery Postlethwait, Nova Lee Heckler, Eleanor May Carr, and Wren Postlethwait.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one great grandchild, Layne Corbitt.

A private funeral service will be held and interment will follow in the Flanagan Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Hospice, 1002 South Crim Avenue

Belington, WV 26250

The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Carr family at this time.
