Gabriel Benjamin Smith, 30, a resident of Shinnston, left this world for a better place on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg

Gabriel was born on Monday, May 28, 1990, at Kingwood, the son of Marty Dale Smith and wife, Amy, and Melissa Ann Newman Smith.   He was never married.

Left to cherish Gabriel’s memory is a sister, Sarah Kille and husband, Vinny, two brothers, Phillip and Daniel Smith, paternal grandfather, Roger Smith, maternal grandmother, Janet Newman, Aunts and Uncles, Cindy Lewis and husband, Scott, Lora Jones and husband, Roy, Jay Newman and wife, Kelly, Eddie Smith and wife, Lynn, and Sam Smith, nieces, Ariah, Alanna and Alexa, numerous cousins, many friends, and his dog, Belle.

Preceding Gabriel in death was his paternal grandmother, Virginia Smith, maternal grandfather, Herbert “Jerry” Newman, Jr., and aunt, Becky Smith.

Gabriel was a graduate of Tucker County High School and had various jobs, the latest being with GMS Mine Repair & Maintenance, Inc.  He loved nature, listening to music, and touching the lives of everyone around him.  Gabriel had a great sense of humor and a quick smile.

Visitation will be held at Hostetler Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, from 12 until 1p.m., the funeral hour.  Rev. Jerry Lee Helmick will officiate, and interment will follow in Parsons City Cemetery.  The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Gabriel’s name to the Ronald McDonald House at www.rmhc.org/donate.  The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Gabriel Benjamin Smith.  Send online condolences to the family at www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com.
