Garry ‘Bud’ Eugene Bonner, 73, a resident of Parsons, passed from this life on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Cortland Acres Nursing Home.
Garry was born Sunday, November 17, 1946, in Eglon, a son of the late Stanley William Bonner and Nettie Marguerite Cole Bonner. On May 9, 1970, at Riverview Chapel in Porterwood, he was married to the former Jeanne Elizabeth Goss, who survives. They would have celebrated fifty years of marriage on May 9.
Also left to cherish Garry’s memory is one son Michael Laine Bonner and wife, Mellisa, one daughter, Amy Lynn Wagner and husband, Johnny, all of Parsons, one sister, Sandra Lambert and husband Bob, one brother, David Cleon Bonner and wife Cathy, all of Hendricks, two sisters-in-law, Linda Bonner and Donna Carr, both of Parsons, six grandsons, Luke Bowley, Titus Bowley, Eli Bowley, Slayter Liller, Shayne Liller, and Treye Wagner, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Garry was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas William Bonner.
Garry was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1965. He had served as a medic with the United States Army during Vietnam. He worked in the General Laborers Local #984 until the flood of 1985. He then opened Bonner’s Body Shop with his partner and friend, Richard Harper which still operates today as Bonner’s Collision Service. He also owned and operated Bonner’s Towing. He loved his customers and did not hesitate to offer his services even on holidays, sporting events, or special occasions. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and watching them play baseball.
On Tuesday, May 5, 2020, from 1PM until 8PM, we will offer a drive up service at Hostetler Funeral Home where those who wish to avoid entering the building may pay their respects by signing the guest book, and perhaps offering a special message to the family. A visitation inside the building will be held from 4 until 8 PM. We suggest that those who enter wear a facial covering and maintain social distancing. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at 1PM. Rev Greg Smith will officiate, and interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
