Henry was born Tuesday, February 14, 1939 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Robert L. and Lessy S. Rudd. On February 14, 1961, he married Barbara Holt in North Beach, Md. who preceded him in death.
Left to cherish Henry’s memory is one sister, Naomi Harper, of Petersburg, TN, one brother, Robert L. Rudd and wife, Nancy, of Winchester, TN, and two nieces, Cornelia Chomech and Frances Gosnell, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by one niece, Susan Elaine Rudd.
Henry graduated from Parsons High School with the class of 1956. He served in the U.S. Navy as a SEABEE. Henry worked for the U.S. Government Weather Bureau as an auditor until he became disabled in 1969. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and swimming.
In his spare time, he loved to write and gave his writings to everyone he knew. He also published a book, “Hold Nothing”, which was the story of his life on the ice in New Zealand. Henry was an avid traveler. He had traveled to many countries, the South Pole being one of his favorite places. He had been to almost all the states in the U.S., but always came home to West Virginia. He was a Methodist by faith.
A visitation was held at Hostetler Funeral Home in Parsons on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM, the funeral hour. Rev. William Brown officiated and Henry’s request for cremation was honored. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Tucker County Senior Center.
