James Lee “Jim” Pase, 89, a resident of Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland, MD died February 26, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV from a heart attack following surgery. He was born November 1, 1926 in Thomas, WV, a son of the late Lee Otto Pase and Elizabeth Swartz Pase, both of Thomas, WV.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Jeffrey Pase, sisters Joanne Harper and Carol Zorb, brothers Harry Joseph, Donnie, David Sr., one step brother, Russell “Boz” Hamner, one niece Paula Udovich Gardner and nephews David Pase, Jr. and Terry Harper.
He is survived by one sister, Eloise Udovich, Oakland, MD, one brother, Duane Pase, Clinton, MD and one special cousin, Joyce Pase Ashby Ziesemer, St. George, WV. He is also survived by nieces Elizabeth (Robert) Hodges, Margaret (Delton) Fout, Brenda Harper Beaulieu, Dana (Mike Carr) Pase, Stephanie (Todd) Zorb Mathis, Melanie Zorb and Jenny (Matt) Helmick and nephews Tommy, Danny and Mark Harper as well as many great nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of Thomas High School class of 1944. After graduating he joined the US Army, and served in Italy at the end of WWII. After separation from the military he went to Washington, D.C. where he worked as a food purchaser for a major hotel. He then took a job with ACME Iron Works, Inc. where he worked until he retired. Eventually he moved back to his home town of Thomas, and later moved to Oakland, MD.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and assistants who cared for Jim for the past three years or more. A special thanks to Dennett Road Manor for their kindness and compassion shown for the past 10 months, Dr. Marjorie Fridkin and the staff at the Wound Care Center, and everyone at the Independent Dialysis Foundation where he received dialysis three days a week for more than three years.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, WV on Monday February 29, 2016 from 11 a.m. until 1: p.m. the funeral hour. Delton H. Fout officiated the service. Interment followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Thomas, WV with Military Honors performed by Oakland, MD American Legion Post #71, Deer Park VFW Post 10077 and two active army representatives from Camp Dawson.
