1931-2024 93 years Young
A native of Parsons and one of the Original “Tannery Row Rinky Dinks”, Joan passed away in her sleep at her Residence in Camas, WA. She was watching “Gunsmoke”, with her beloved dogs nearby.
Joan was born to the late Denver Roy and Viola (Bodkins) Roy, one of ten children. She attended the Schools of Parsons and enjoyed returning every few years for the PHS Alumni weekend while her health allowed it. Joan worked at Vonhaven’s Photography Studio and later the former Dorman Mills.
She was married to Robert “Bob” Liller son of the late Richard Liller and Mabel (Conaway) Liller in 1953. They had four children, Pete, Cheryl, Mike and Jeff. Bob worked at Dorman Mills in the Dye house Department and this career took them to the Pacific NW, where they settled in Camas.
Joan worked in Housekeeping at the local Nursing Facility, then went to work at the Crown-Zellerbach papermill. After retiring from there in 1994, she went back to the Nursing Facility as a Dietary Aide until her final retirement in 1998. Joan loved to work in her yard and made it something she was proud of. She was also proud of her “Hillbilly” heritage and the fact that even after 54 years away, she still had her “accent”. Her heart was forever in WV. Joan was the last of her Siblings, having been preceded in death by Brothers Hank, Eddie, Raymond, Wallace, Junior, Paul (Essie) and Donald Roy, Sisters Gladys Kisner and Patty Smith and three Step-brothers, Charles, Winnie and Stelman Roy. Other than her Siblings, she was predeceased by Bob in 1989 and Son Mike in 1999. She is survived by Son Pete (Dee) Liller of St. Marys, WV, Daughter Cheryl (Lauren-deceased) of Washougal, WA,, Son Jeff of Camas, WA and Grandchildren Robert of Camas, Jesse and Mollie of Hoodsport, WA and Krista and Tracy of WV, and several Great-grandchildren. She was cremated and her ashes will be returned to her Son Pete to scatter in the place she loved so much. There will be no service. Please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, March of Dimes or Salvation Army, which were her favorite charities.
