Beloved husband, devoted father and best friend to many, John J. Mullennex, Jr. passed away in his sleep Thursday, June 14 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Baer Mullennex, his loving wife of 61 years, his daughters Lisa Lee Winland and Sheryl Dehner and his sister, the Honorable Sarah Minear of Morgantown.

Sarah served the state of West Virginia as a state senator for several years.

“Big John” was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter for many years. He had a State Farm Insurance Agency for 39 years in Fairmont, and served twice as President for the Rotary Club of Fairmont.

Big John loved cheering for the West Virginia Mountaineers. He was an annual season ticket holder and financial contributor to the club for many years. Many people’s lives were enriched from his love and made better by his generosity, compassion and kindness.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of New Smyrna Beach, FL on Saturday, June 23 at 2 p.m. to celebrate the life of this great man. Friends will be received on Saturday, June 23  from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of John J. Mullennex, Jr. to Vitas, 2381 Mason Ave. Suite 100, Daytona Beach, FL 32117.
