Joyce Elaine Carr Knotts

Joyce Elaine Carr Knotts, age 67 years, a native of Tucker County, WV, a former resident of Charleston, WV, and more recently a resident of Dunbar, WV took her Saviors hand and went to her heavenly home early Sunday morning, February 4, 2018 at her home. Death was unexpected.


She was born Thursday, November 23, 1950 at Hendricks, WV a daughter of the late Robert Stanley and Joy “Maxine” Burns Carr. On April 18, 1981 at Porterwood, WV she was married to The Rev. Kenneth Morris Knotts, Jr., who preceded her in death March 20, 2007. They had celebrated twenty-five years of marriage. Left to cherish her memory are one sister, Sandra Kay “Sandi” George and husband Gene of Elkins.

Preceding her in death are one sister, Brenda S. Murray.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1968, and was a graduate of Hagerstown Business College as a legal secretary. At the time of her death she was a secretary for the State of WV Human Rights Commission and was a member of the Powerhouse Church of Dunbar where she served as an Elder and sang in the choir. She enjoyed yard sales and flea markets.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday. Final Rites were conducted at the funeral home parlor, Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. Apostle Melvin Mosley, Sr., and Bishop R. Clifton Thorpe officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Joyce Elaine Carr Knotts.
