Knotts, Glenn Franklin

Glenn Franklin Knotts, age 76, of Tecumseh, MI passed away on June 28, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on March 27, 1948 in Parsons, WV a son of the late Claude B. and Mable (Mullenax) Knotts. He graduated from Parsons High School in 1966.  On June 29, 1968 in Oakland, MD he married Barbara M. Weilbächer and they have shared 56 years together. 

 

From 1966-1967 Glenn was in the Merchant Marines delivering supplies to Vietnam where he crossed the Pacific Ocean many times and told great stories of the rough storms they encountered. From 1968-1970 Glenn joined the Army and was in the 101st Airborne division. He served combat duty and fought hard for his country. For his time spent in Vietnam he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Service Stars and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. 

 

Glenn enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors, he loved listening to country music and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Glenn was full of life and absolutely loved his country.

 

Along with his wife Barbara, he is survived by a son Wesley Bryant (Samantha) Knotts; a sister, Judy Evans and a brother, Dennis (Wanda) Knotts. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Glenn Jeremey Knotts and two brothers, Morris and Bill Knotts and his grandfather, Wilburt “Cricket” Knotts. 

 

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 11am at Brookside Cemetery with military honors performed by the Tecumseh American Legion Post 176 and VFW Post 4187 along with the U.S. Army honor guard. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.handlerfuneralhomes.com.
