Mr. Lawrence Loughry, 76, of New Windsor, Maryland, passed away suddenly at Carroll Hospital Center on Friday, September 14, 2018. Born August 28, 1942 in Washington D.C. he was the son of the late Troy Loughry and Betty Atkinson.

Lawrence was raised in Parsons W.V., by his grandparents, Louisa and Samuel Loughry, a place he loved and spoke of frequently. He was a member of the Eagles Club. He was retired from General Dynamics Robotics Systems. His early in life career was with the Thoroughbred Racing Industry as a well known and respected Jockey most notably in New York, California, and Florida. He was very successful in his profession and continued as an exercise rider for many years after his racing career ended. He loved watching professional football as his pastime and was highly knowledgeable in this. He also loved fishing and spending time with friends and family.

He leaves behind his daughters Rachel Loughry of Taneytown and Sundae Loughry Cox and husband Ty of Indiana. Sisters Bonnie Evans and husband Stuart Evans of Virginia, and sister Patty Crain. He had two grandchildren Brittany Mendenhall and Sophie Cox of Indiana.

At Lawrence’s request, there will be no viewing or funeral ceremony but the family will announce a Celebration of Life gathering to be held in the near future.
