Mary Virginia “Gin” Winters

Mary Virginia “Gin” Winters, 93, of Fort Ashby, died April 19, 2023, at The Dawn View Center.

 

Born March 15, 1930, in Dunbar, PA, she was the daughter of the late Richard Thomas “R.T.” Friend and Mary Louise (Spedden) Friend.

 

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Winters; siblings, Richard “Dick” Friend and Katherine L. Friend; and, daughter-in-law Brenda Winters.

 

Her surviving family members include sons, Steven A. Winters and L. Wayne Winters; siblings, Rebecca McDowell, Carol Huggins and William “Bill” Friend; grandsons, Joshua Winters and Ethan Winters; one great granddaughter and four great grandsons; and nieces and nephews.

 

She had attended Mt. Zion Church.  In her spare time, “Gin” enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers.  The loves of her life were her children and grandchildren.

 

Friends were received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Ashby, on

Tuesday, April 25, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.  The funeral service followed at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Eisenhour, officiating.

            

Interment was at Fort Ashby Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Ashby Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1110, Fort Ashby, WV  26719.

 

The family appreciates the kind, compassionate care provided by the staff at The Dawn View Center.
