Minnie Dove Maxwell Shahan

Minnie Dove Maxwell Shahan, age 94 years, a former resident of the Moore Community, Parsons, WV, and more recently a resident of Cortland Acres at Thomas, WV, went home to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon, January 21, 2018 at Thomas, WV.


She was born Tuesday, October 9, 1923 at Limestone, WV, a daughter of the late Earl J. and Audra Marie Beavers Maxwell.  On May 31, 1963, she was married to Alva Junior “Tom” Shahan, who preceded her in death March 17, 1999.  She was the Granddaughter of Ezekiel Harper.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.  She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by two brothers, George Maxwell and Oliver “Fred” Maxwell; and four sisters, Catherine Snider, Beulah Virginia Andrews, Hazel Carrie Rhoades and Annabelle Maxwell.  She attended the one room school at Limestone.  She was a homemaker, cleaned the Presbyterian Church years ago and she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Parsons, WV.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, WV on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.  Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. Dr. George Rhoades officiated, and interment followed at the Parsons Family Cemetery at Shavers Fork, WV.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Minnie Dove Maxwell Shahan.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
