Naden Blane Goughnour, 10, of Oakland, MD, received his angel’s wings on Friday, January 13, 2017 following a battle with cancer.

His final time was spent with family and the Lord’s words.  His life is one to be celebrated.

Born June 29, 2006 in Oakland, Naden’s life was too short, but those who knew him understood what an inspirational young man he was.  His kind and gentle personality warmed the hearts of those around him.

Although his illness took much of his strength and mobility, he continued to believe that each day was a blessing.  He enjoyed his Legos, playing board and card games, watching Netflix with friends and family, and creating lasting memories.

Naden was a fifth grader at Yough Glades Elementary School, Oakland.  He was a member of the First Lego League and Honors chorus at his school.  This spring, he also earned his black belt in TaeKwonDo, which was a great honor to receive.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oakland.  Naden loved hearing and spreading the Word of God.  His church family was very special to him.

Naden leaves behind his loving parents Justin and Antoinette (Scalese) Goughnour; paternal grandparents, Joel and Cindy Goughnour of Parsons, WV; maternal grandparents, Bob and Regina Scalese of Sabillasville, MD; many uncles, aunts, and cousins of Utah, Colorado, Louisiana, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Hawaii, and Austria.  He will be dearly missed by all.

Friends were received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Dr., Oakland, on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 12 p.m. Services will be conducted in the Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. with President Larry Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be Fairview Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Make-A-Wish Mid Atlantic, 5272 River Road, Suite 700, Bethesda, MD 20816.

Condolences may be sent to his family at www.newmanfuneralhomes.com.
