“Ellen” Cole Bonner, 72, a resident of Hendricks, passed from this life peacefully at her home Tuesday, January 5, 2016. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.

Ellen was born Saturday, February 20, 1943 in Leadmine, a daughter of the late Jack D. Cole and Virginia Ellen James Cole. On June 13, 1964, in Oakland, MD, she married Gerald C. Bonner who preceded her in death on January 12, 2005.

Left to cherish Ellen’s memory are four siblings, Shirley McFarland and Burgess W. Cole, both of Wadswirth, OH, Robert Cole and Charles “Chuck” Cole, both of Eglon, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her loving caretakers, Ada Mae King, Tammy Carr, and Tina, the family dog.

Preceding Ellen in death besides her parents and husband were four siblings, Delores Liston, Lonzo Cole, Delbert Cole, and Darvin Cole.

Ellen attended the one room Sell School on Stemple Ridge and the Aurora School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with family, reading, crocheting, and embroidery. Phebe was a Methodist by faith and attended Brookside Methodist Church. She was baptized at the Maple Spring Church in Eglon.

Visitation was held at the Summerfield Funeral Home Saturday, January 9, 2016 from noon – 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Rev. James Snyder officiated and interment followed in Parsons City Cemetery. The Summerfield Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements for Phebe “Ellen” Cole Bonner. Send online condolences to the family at www.summerfieldfuneralhome.com
