Richard Blair “Dick” Lewis, 80, a native of Akron, OH, and for the last thirty-two years, a resident of Noble County, OH, passed from this life Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Dick was born Wednesday, January 18, 1939, in Akron, OH, a son of the late Richard Blair Lewis and Dessie Laneva “Neva” Lanham Lewis. He married the love of his life, Frances “Karen” Carr Lewis, on February 14, 1967. She had preceded him in death on September 15, 2000, having celebrated thirty-three years of marriage.
Dick is survived by one daughter, Deborah Holmes, two brothers, Tom and Frank Lewis, and many friends and family members.
Besides his parents and wife, Dick was preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Copen.
Dick attended schools in Ohio and had attended Akron University. He had worked at General Tire where he began as a tire builder before moving up to project manager. As a project manager, he traveled the world for the company spending time in Germany, India, and Pakistan, to name a few. It was also while working at General Tire where he met his wife, Karen. He retired from General Tire and began spending time hunting and fishing with his good buddies.
Visitation will be held at Hostetler Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, from 12:30 pm until 1 pm, at which time a Celebration of Life will take place. Dick’s desire to be returned to Tucker County and laid to rest beside his beloved Karen will then be completed at Brights Chapel Cemetery in Dry Fork.
