Robert Donald “Bob” Roy, age 70 years, a resident of Beverly, WV and Florence, SC departed this life Thursday evening December 8, 2016 at Florence, SC. He had been in declining health for the past three weeks.
He was born Tuesday, October 1, 1946 at Chicoppe, MA a son of the late Amie Joseph Arthur Wifred Roy and Doris Helen Robert Roy. On June 22, 1985 at Parsons, WV he was married to the former Rada Mae Fox, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, James Roy and wife Misty of Sanford, NC, and Rob Roy and wife Tanya of Lillington, NC; one stepson, Richard Allen Dumire of FL; two step daughters, Ella Mae Dumire of New Castle, DE, Janet Lee Canfield and husband David of Elkins; one sister, Jean Ledoux of Springfield, MA; three grandchildren, Aubrey, Kayle, and Carolina; seven step grandchildren, thirteen step great grandchildren; and a dear friend, Charlie Carr of Brooksville, FL.
He attended the Chicopee Vocational School and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U. S. Army with the First Calvary. He had worked as a truck driver for thirty-four years, had worked as a federal police officer at Dalgreen, VA., and the Florida Correctional Institute. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Vietnam Veterans of America.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Terry Cannon will officiate and interment will follow at the American
