Robert Earl “Bob” Poling

bobpolingAugust 20, 2016 at the home of his companion, Bernice Hymes of Parsons.
Bob was born Thursday, December 16, 1937 in Parsons, a son of the late Gaston E. Poling and Hazel Wilson Poling.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory is his son, Kevin R. Poling of Landsdale, PA, one sister, Grace Monastra and husband, Nick, of Mansfield, OH, one brother, Kenneth “Glenn” Poling and wife, Agnes, of Parsons, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Bob in death besides his parents was one brother, John D. Poling.
Bob was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1957 and had served with the United States Army. He had worked for Trail Mobile in West Point, PA, and as a Policeman for the City of Parsons. He retired from the City of Parsons where he had worked for over twenty years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a former member of the Izaac Walton League and the Tucker County Sheriff’s Reserve. He was also a member of the H.W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion, the Tucker County Veterans Association, Riverview Chapel at Porterwood and the “Magnificent Seven” which was the group of veterans responsible for the planning and building of the Veterans Wall in Parsons
Bob’s request for cremation was honored. A graveside service will be conducted in Parsons City Cemetery on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. Rev. Adam Snyder and Rev. James Snyder will officiate and interment will follow where full military honors will be conducted by members of H.W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion, Tygarts Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Tucker County Veterans Association and the WV Honor Guard. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Tucker County Veterans Association, PO Box 95, Parsons, WV 26287 in Bob’s memory.
