Robert Lee Lipscomb Jr.

Robert Lee Lipscomb Jr., age 74 years, a resident of the Leadmine Community, Parsons, WV departed this life Saturday afternoon, November 4, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Mountain Hospice.


He was born Tuesday, July 6, 1943 at Elkins, WV, a son of the late Robert Lee “Honey” Lipscomb, Sr. and Ada Agnes Shaffer Lipscomb.  He was twice married.  First to Joan Susan Pires Lipscomb of Parsons and second to Janis McMinn Forsyth of Alabama.

Surviving are two daughters, Kimberly Lipscomb Day and husband Bill of Parsons and Susan Lipscomb of the Leadmine Community, Parsons; two stepsons, Shane Smith and wife Renee and Jeramy Smith and wife Kim, both of Alabama; four grandchildren, Wesley Nestor of Morgantown, Emily Nestor and fiancé Justin Callis of Hendricks, Rorry Day and Dora Grace Day, both of Parsons; and one great granddaughter, Cali Callis of Hendricks.

Being in a military family, he attended various schools.  He was a graduate Nurnberg High School in Germany and was a graduate of the University of Michigan.  He was a former employee of Packstar Van Lines at Virginia.  He worked as Manager for the former Parsons Footwear and then was transferred to Savannah, Georgia, where he opened new plants and managed them for Beta Shoe.  He returned to his home in Leadmine and worked at Teter Motors as a salesman, until his retirement.  He enjoyed mowing his grass, golfing and attending golf events and he was an avid reader.

The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, WV on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m.  Mr. Lipscomb’s request for cremation will follow.
