Roy French “Harp” Harper

Funeral services for Roy French “Harp” Harper, age 81 of Petersburg, were conducted Wednesday December 23, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Medium United Methodist Church with Bro. Tony Williams officiating. Burial followed in Short Cemetery. Mr. Harper passed away Sunday December 20, 2015 at his residence.

A native of Benbush, WV, he was the son of the late Dayton Roy and Nolla Gladys Davis Harper. Mr. Harper was chief warrant officer with the Maryland National Guard and a member of the Medium United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Naomi Rudd Harper of Petersburg, two daughter Cornelia Chomech (Bill “Andele” Dodson) of Columbia, TN, Frances (Bennie) Gosnell of Maryland, grandchildren Vicki Ball, Taylor Ball, Valarie Owens, Danielle Gosnell, Roy Johnson, Nina Johnson,

Justina Steudl, Shamus Currin, Connor Isbell, Nicholas Isbell and Andriana Rose Jackson, brother Forrest Wesley Harper.

In addition of his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Audrey Ramsey and Vivian Alkire.

Visitation with the family was Tuesday evening December 22, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.
