Sandra Kay Workman Gooden, age 69 years, a resident of the Clover Run Community, Parsons, WV departed this life Sunday morning, January 23, 2022, at Cortland Acres at Thomas, WV.  

She was born Thursday, May 8, 1952, at Elkins, WV, a daughter of the late Wayman Edgar Workman, Sr. and Lena Chloe Collier Workman.  On December 2, 2006, she was married to Harold Otto Gooden, Sr., who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Richard Edward Kencel, Jr. and wife Joyce of Winchester, VA; six stepsons, Harold O. Gooden, Jr. of KS, David A. Gooden of VA, Gary B. Gooden of WV, James J. Gooden of VA, Joe L. Gooden and Benjamin K. Gooden, both of Parsons; four brothers, Brent E. Workman of Elkins, Jonathan J. Workman and Tammy of Beverly, Wayne E. Workman and Sam L. Workman and Brandi, all of Elkins; two sisters, Susan L. White and Alan of Elkins, and Sonya L. Messer and Joe of Montrose; sisters-in-law, Linda Workman of Elkins; Elise Ford, Jane Gooden, Mary Ann Lipscomb, Vivetta May Carter, Rosie Crocker, Elise and Lyn Metheny; brothers-in-law, Eldorus Gooden and Linda, Tom Gooden and Sheila, Daniel Gooden, Robert Gooden and Cindy;  grandchildren, E-6 Lance E. Kencel and Samantha of Virginia Beach, Eilish J. Kencel and Caleb Kencel, both of Winchester, Trea, Zane, Justin, Matt, Zack, Kendra, Jessica, Michael, Ryan, Autumn, Kendall, Shelby, Cheyann, Brianna and Ben;  great-grandchildren, Logan Kencel, Emberly Kencel, Ean Ruble and James Otto; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are one daughter, Misty Kencel; one brother, Wayman Workman. Jr.; two brothers-in-law, Lester and David Gooden. 

She was a graduate of Elkins High School.  In earlier years she worked as a nurse’s aide and later she worked at the Mountaineer Mushroom Plant.  She is Christian by faith.  Her hobbies include cooking, canning, and crocheting.  She loved social media. 

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon.   Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Friday at Noon.  The Reverend Justin Jones officiated and interment followed at the Harsh Cemetery at Clover Run.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Sandra Kay Workman Gooden.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com
