Sharon A. “Annie” Pennington Lambert, 74, a resident of the Penningtonville Community, Blackman Flats passed from this life Monday, January 12, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
Sharon was born Sunday, June 22, 1941 in Parsons, a daughter of the late Harry B. Pennington and Alma E. Kelley Pennington. On June 20, 1974, she married John R. Lambert who survives.
Also left to cherish Sharon’s memory is one daughter, Debra L. White of Elkins, two grandsons, Matthew White and wife, Amanda of Chesapeake Bay, Va, and Wesley White of Elkins, two great granddaughters, Alanah Grace and Summer Lynn, four sisters, Bobbie McWilliams of Lampasas, TX, Patricia Reall-McClure and husband, John of Sidney, OH, Teresa “Mickey” Pennington and special friend, Dave Burnside, M. Dian Pennington-Shifflett and husband, Doug, all of Blackman Flats, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by one daughter, Johnette “Tonya” Lea Lambert, four brothers, Delbert “Nub”, Larry “Poug”, Douglas, and Harry “Sut” Pennington, one foster brother, Merv Close, one niece, Brenda McWilliams Miller, three nephews, Berdette “Ben”, Gerald “TC”, and Douglas Jr., and one great nephew, Christopher Dale Pennington.
Sharon was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1959. She had worked of White Gables Nursing Home, Tucker County Hospital, Dorman Mills, Kingsford, and was employed as a custodian for the Tucker County Board of Education. She was affiliated with Riverview Chapel in Porterwood, was a member of the Parsons Chapter #91, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a Methodist by faith.
Sharon loved her job at Tucker Valley Elementary where she had several
“Teachers” there who she had grown very close to and loved very much. She cherished each of her co-workers, but more than anything, she loved the children she came in contact with every day. She would slip them a piece of candy and tell them not to let the teachers know where they got it.
Visitation was held at Summerfield Funeral Home on Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. At 7 p.m., ritualistic services will be conducted by members of the Parsons Chapter #91, Order of the Eastern Star. Funeral services was held from the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 1 p.m. Pastor James Snyder and Rev. Sue Metzner officiated. At Sharon’s request, she was be cremated and graveside services will be held at a later date.
