Shelbia Jean Davis Dixon

Shelbia Jean Davis Dixon, age 60 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Friday, July 26, 2013 at her home.  She had been in declining health; however death was sudden and unexpected.
She was born Wednesday, December 17, 1952 at Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late James A. and Emma Mae Tichnell Davis and her Step- Mother, Jean Davis, who survives at Bridgeport, WV.  She was married to O’Donavoah D. Dixon, Sr., who preceded her in death.  She is survived by her long time companion and fiancé, David E. Gidley, Sr. of Parsons, WV.
Also surviving are three sons, O’Donavoah D. Dixon, II and wife Laura of Pickerington, Ohio., David E. Gidley, II and wife Lynn of Parsons, WV and Christopher B. Gidley and wife Tia of Hambleton, WV; one daughter, Melissa A. Sanders and husband Dewey of Eustis, Fla.; three sisters, Carol Thompson and Edna Swiger, both of Clarksburg, WV Margaret Hoard of Morgantown, WV, nine grandchildren, Aericka, Shelbia, Nicholas, Brent, Byron, Zachary, Jenell, Lyndsey and Logan; and her friend, Dannie Newman of Clarksburg, WV.
She was a graduate of Lumberport High School and Fairmont State College, where she received her Master’s Degree in Psychology.  She was a former employee of the Weston State Hospital, the Army Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas, the Clarksburg VA Hospital and the Tucker County Veterans Clinic of Parsons.   Shelbia’s request for cremation was honored.  Interment will follow in Kingwood at a later date.  The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Tucker County Animal Shelter, 586 Brooklyn Heights Road, Parsons, WV 26287.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Shelbia Jean Davis Dixon.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
