Sherry Ann Martin Valentine, 58, a resident of Parsons and more recently a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home passed from this life Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the nursing home.

Sherry was born October 24, 1962, in Elkins, a daughter of Robert and Sylvia Sturdivant Martin, who survive in Elkins. Sherry was preceded in death by her son, David “Brent” Eye in April 2013, and her husband, Alphus“David” Valentine in December 2014.

Left to cherish Sherry’s memory are three sisters, Tina Debien (Ron) of Messena, NY, Cynthia Ellis (Tim) of Elkins, Teresa Welsh of New Egypt, NJ; and one brother, Robert Martin, Jr. (Michele) of Roanoke, IN; eight nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and many friends. Sherry was a graduate of the Tucker County High School Class of 1980. She worked at Parsons Footwear and for many years as a cashier at the Parsons Shop-n-Save.  She enjoyed listening to music and reading.

She loved her family and spending time with them. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Parsons. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of the Saint George Medical Clinic for many years of medical care for Sherry.  We also appreciate the loving care and attention provided to Sherry over the past year by the day surgery staff at Davis Medical Center and the wonderful staff at Nella’s Nursing Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Parsons First Baptist Church Food Bank or to the Tucker County Family Resource Network as an expression of sympathy.

Sherry’s request for cremation was honored. There will not be a public memorial service.  You can send online condolences to the family at www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com
