Shirley was born Friday, May 14, 1937 in Red Creek, a daughter of the late Henry Snyder and Jennie Judy Snyder. Shirley was one of fourteen children. She has lived in Ravenna for the past 12 years, formerly of Mantua, OH and Parsons. On July 7, 1984 Shirley married Robert E. Allison. They were blessed with 18 years of marriage before his passing on October 21, 2002.

Left to cherish Shirley’s memory are four children, Shirley Ann Plum of Hambleton, Cindy Bennett of OH with whom she lived, Ginger Bennett of Grantsville, and Chuck Bennett of OH with whom she lived, five siblings, Lena Pennington of Elkins, Betty Bonner, Sharon Nestor and husband Walter, Kelly Snyder and wife Adeline and Bill Snyder, all of Parsons, three grandchildren, Charles Bennett, Marshall Summerville and Christy Mason and 3 great grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Charles Bennett, her husband, Robert and eight siblings, Tacie DeWalt, Gaye Day, Muriel Simmons, Opal Griffith, Patti McDaniel, Gerald, Hoy and Kenneth Snyder.

Shirley was a farmer for eighteen years and for seven years she was the owner and operator of Bennett’s Bookstore in Ravenna. She enjoyed cooking, reading, animals and loved her cats. Shirley took great pride and enjoyment in working.

A visitation was held at the Summerfield Funeral Home Tuesday from 6- 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held conducted Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 1 p.m. Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Holly Meadows. The Summerfield Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Shirley Ruth Allison.
