Theresa E. Gabrielson, born and raised in Thomas, lived a long, dignified life and passed to our lord recently from her home in Arlington, Va.
The daughter of Alex Mazitis and Elizabeth Milkint Mazitis, Theresa “Terry” graduated from Thomas High and Potomac State College. She moved to D.C. and had two careers, one as a staffer on Capitol Hill and one as a registered lobbyist for Transco Energy. She forged the way for many women to follow.
She is survived by her son Mark Chase and his daughter Theresa and through her late daughter Betty by grandchildren Robyn, Randal and Tracy and their four children. She’s survived in Thomas by niece Betsy Cangley, her children Cynthia and Vicky and their children Paige, Ava, Mallory and Parker.
Terry never lost touch with her roots in Thomas. She was told by her mother to always act like a lady and never lose your dignity and that’s how she lived. She truly “did her home town proud”. An informal service will be held April 17, 1 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Thomas.
