Thomas McClain “Tom” Collins

Thomas McClain “Tom” Collins, age 77 years, a former resident of Clarksburg, WV and more recently a resident of Princeton, WV permanently retired to his heavenly home Thursday afternoon, January 28, 2016 at the Bowers Hospice House at Beckley, WV following an extended illness, leaving behind his beloved wife of forty-seven years, Donna June Miller Collins, whom he married October 19, 1968 at the Parsons Church of God at Parsons, WV. Tom was born in Clarksburg, WV on Monday, March 28, 1938.

In addition to his beloved wife, Tom is survived by a sister-in-law, Karen E. Simmons, whom he considered a daughter, and her husband Ronald of TX; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Ronald C. Miller and wife Linda of Princeton, a sister in law, Shirley A. Colbert and her husband Gary of Clearwater, FL, eight nieces, Vicki Thomas, Sue Britton, Conni Beatty, Michelle Colbert-Jones, Beverly Addison, Melanie McIlwaine, Jennifer Simmons, and Joyce Faulkner, three nephews, Gary Colbert, Jr., Steven Paul Miller, and Donald Collins, nine grand nieces, seven grand nephews, four great grand nieces, and three great grand nephews.

Preceding him to his heavenly retirement were his parents, Elmer Harland and Mayme Double Collins, one niece, Debbie Warth, and one infant grand niece.

Mr. Collins and his wife Donna had recently moved to Princeton, WV to spend their remaining golden years. Until then, he had been a lifelong resident of Clarksburg, WV having graduated from Washington-Irving High School, Alderson Broaddus College, and had attended Fairmont State College. He was a member of the Clarksburg Church of God for nearly fifty years, where he had served on the Pastor’s council, and was actively involved with the choir and praise team.

The family received friends at the Parsons Church of God at Parsons WV on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Celebration of Life was celebrated at 1 p.m., Tuesday. The Rev. Dave Snyder, the Rev. Eli Hostetler, and the Rev. Ronald Miller officiated and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV with a meal following at the Church.
