Velma S. Miller Loughry, 93, formerly of Seven Islands Road, Tucker County, but more recently of Colonial Place, Elkins died Sunday, December 1, 2013.
She was born September 29, 1920, on Irish Ridge, Preston County, a daughter of the late Ira Blaine and Matilda C. Himelrick Miller.
Mrs. Loughry was a homemaker, gardener, loved to quilt and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. On September 19, 1939 she married, Lewis F. Loughry who preceded her in death in March of 1998.
She is survived by two sons, Donald A. Loughry and wife, Sharon of Franklin and Roger Loughry and companion, Fran Wear of Mineral Wells; a daughter, Linda Plaugher and husband, Eldon of Parsons, four grandsons, Roger (Buddy) and Shari of Washington, C. Scott Loughry of Silver Spring, Md., E. Thomas (Tommy) Plaugher and Georgy of Seven Islands and Aaron Plaugher and Tina of Alderson, four great-grandchildren, Gillian and Patrick Plaugher and Jacob and Samuel Loughry, a sister-in-law, Catherine Loughry of Charles Town and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Loughry, four brothers, Dayton, William, Fred and infant Blaine Miller and four sisters, Clara McGinnis, Edith Salisbury, Effie Whipple and Gertrude Snider.
Family and friends called at the Browning Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 24 Chestnut Street, Rowlesburg from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 3 where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 with Reverend Jeff Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Sarah Cemetery near Rowlesburg.
