Wallace D. “Wally” Simmons,” 89, of Richmond, Va., passed away January 4, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred Simmons; two children, Steven Wallace Simmons and wife, Mary Gene Simmons, Kathy Simmons Neel and husband, David Neel; sister, Catharine Bellows of West Dennis, Mass.; brother, Herbert Simmons of Elkins, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Addie and Sarah Simmons, Scott and Jeffrey Neel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wally served in the United States Army during WWII in the China, Burma and India Theater. He was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Mastin Sunday school class. He retired from IBM Corporation in 1987 after 35 years of service. The family received friends Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A memorial service was held Thursday, January 9, at 1 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Ave., Richmond, Va. 23229.
