Weir William Roth

Weir William Roth, 85, went to be with the Lord May 11, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born December 26, 1931 in Red House, MD a son of the late William Calvin and Bernice Evelyn Martin Roth.


Also preceding him in death was one brother, Harold Roth.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marilyn D. Roth, four daughters; Justine (Donald) Calcamp, Eglon, WV, Charlotte Roth, Morgantown, WV, Peggy (Charles “Ed”) Roth, Oakland, MD, Cindy (Michael) Darby, Frostburg, MD, one son; William “Bill” (Tracy) Kelley, Washington, PA, four brothers; Sam (Helen) Roth, Eglon, WV, Cecil (Gloria) Roth, Petersburg, WV, Gay (Virginia) Roth, Thomas, WV, Willard (Dorothy) Roth, Eglon, WV, two sisters; Shirley Parsons, Aurora, WV, Sue Ann (Bill) Myers, Fort Ashby, WV, one sister-in-law; Helen “Susie” Roth, Oakland, MD, seven grandchildren, Kevin Calcamp, Christopher Calcamp, Andrew Roth, Alison Roth, Dustin Darby, William Kelley, Mekenna Kelley, and one great-grandchild; Addison Grace.

Mr. Roth was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea with the 633rd engineer battalion stationed at the 38th parallel. He was the owner and operator of Fairfax Sand and Gravel. He was a life long member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Red House, MD. His hobbies were gardening and farming. He also enjoyed camping and travelling and spending the winter months in New Smyrna Beach, FL which gave him the opportunity to witness 25 space launches by NASA. He also visited National Parks in the 48 states and Alaska. Most of all Weir was known for his bread making and love of family.

Friends were received on Monday May 15, 2017 at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis, WV from 2-7 p.m. and on Tuesday May 16 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. the funeral hour. Rev. Regina Beard officiated and interment followed in the Red House Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #71 of Oakland, MD and VFW Post# 10077 of Deer Park, MD. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Red House Lutheran Cemetery Association or Red House Evg. Lutheran Church at 3301 Garrett Highway Oakland, MD 21550.
