Wilbur Boyce Knotts

Wilbur Boyce Knotts, age 77, passed away at his residence on Saturday, April 5, 2014, following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born August 11, 1936, to the late Wilbur and Ethel Parsons Knotts in St. George, WV.  He was raised by his grandparents, Marvin and Amy Lipscomb Parsons at their St. George farm.  He attended school at St. George and Parsons, graduating with the class of1954 at Parsons High School.  A veteran, Wilbur served three years in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge.  He worked for Armco Steel Corp. 36 years, retiring in 1992 as a welder.

Wilbur is survived by his children, son Greg Knotts of Middletown,OH and daughter Amy (John) English of Trenton, OH. Wilbur was an avid gardener, fisherman and hunter, spending many deer seasons in his beloved mountains of Tucker County, WV. He is survived by one maternal aunt, many cousins & friends in Ohio and West Virginia.

A visitation was held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home in Middletown, OH, from 3 to 5 p.m. A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. at the funeral home, with Jerry Minor officiating. Interment of his cremains will be held at a later date at the St. George, WV cemetery. Memorials can be made to the PHS Alumni Scholarship Fund in his memory to P.O. Box 51, Parsons, WV 26287.
