Wilma (Loretta) Lipscomb of Louise Avenue in Morgantown passed away Saturday, April 26 at Mon General Hospital following complications from a short illness.

Loretta was born November 15, 1928 in Auvil, WV.  She was the daughter of the late Hobert & Grace P. Boyles and was the youngest of five children.

Loretta met the love of her life Harold F. Lipscomb Sr. at church in St. George, WV.  They later married at the young age of 19.  They enjoyed 39 years together before Harold’s passing at the age of 58.

Loretta and Harold together raised three children who survive their parents.  She enjoyed bowling, which she continued until the age of 84.  She traveled to many places throughout the country to bowl with her friends and daughters in National Tournaments.

Her favorite color as her friends and family well know was pink, with an angel pin always on her shoulder.  She loved spending time with family and enjoyed her many shopping trips with her girls.

Her surviving children are Harold F. Lipscomb Jr. of Bruceton Mills, WV; Cathy & Larry Oleksa of Morgantown, WV and Rebecca & Robert Ferry of Montgomery Village, MD.  She was blessed to enjoy and dearly love seven grandchildren, six who survived her; Cynthia Anderson, Cory and Erin Oleksa, Tyler and Savannah Oleksa, Taylor Marie Ferry, Daniel F. Ferry and Joshua D. Ferry, as well as Harold (Hal) F. Lipscomb III, who passed away January 2014.  Great grandchildren are Danielle Anderson, Jacki, Caitlyn and Harold F. Lipscomb IV (also known as Chip), Carson and Claire Oleksa.

The only surviving sister Evalene Minear moved from Ohio 16 years ago to be near her younger sister. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Harold F. Lipscomb Sr.; siblings Agnes Poling, Minnie Kincaid, Dallas Boyles, grandson Harold (Hal) F. Lipscomb III.

Friends and family called at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street,  Morgantown  Monday, April 28 from 5-9 p.m. Visitation continued on Tuesday, April 29 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Turner officiating.  Her final resting place will be beside her husband at Pifer Mountain Cemetery in Tucker County, WV.
