Letter to the Editor: Senate Bill 429

Letter to the Editor:

My name is Chris Davis.  I am a proud resident of Tucker County.    Over the years I have been able to help with coaching basketball, volunteering on the Parsons Parks and Recreation board, and also currently volunteering as the Tucker County Ambulance Authority Treasurer.

As some of you are aware we are in a dire situation as it pertains to funding for Emergency Services.   Our county Commission is using all resources available to support as best that they can.   With the residents of our county voting that they are opposed to a levy at this time, our state senators and house of representatives are attempting to pass bills to help this cause.     Please contact our state Representatives by email or phone and ask for support on Senate bill 429.   This Bill would allow each separate County Commission the choice to attach a $1 fee to certain amenities within the county.   The proceeds of this fee would be split between EMS and Fire Departments.  I realize the need for Tourism, but feel that it is too much to ask our local residents to cover the cost of emergency services for themselves and the over 1 millions other that visit our county.

We have a great county with great people and businesses.  My hope is we can help get Senate Bill 429 to pass and improve our emergency Services.   Please take the time to contact our WV State Senators and House of Representatives and have your voice heard.

Best Regards

Christopher Davis
