Dear editor at The Parsons Advocate,
As an elder, I’ve lived through many political crises in this country—but I have never seen an attack on our democracy like this. In the past, there was bipartisan opposition to lawlessness. Today, the guardrails are being dismantled and we must sound the alarm.
I am 72 years old. I get social security. I value the parks and land in our state and fear for what will happen. I am watching the dismantling of health research. My husband died of diabetes and Parkinson’s Disease. I voted for a President, not a dictator, for Senators who said they cared about their constituents but seen too weak to stand up to what is happening. I fear for my children, grandchildren and yours.
Sincerely,
Emily Carton
