I have told you before that I like to ponder when I drive, so I will tell you my latest question to the world. The human body has a core temperature of 98.6 degrees, correct? So why is it that when we walk outside and the ambient temperature is 90 degrees, why do we feel hot? Oh, I know there is a scientific answer but for all practical purposes, my question is why?
These odd things just pop into my head sometimes and I don’t know why, but it is something to question until I get an answer. I can understand feeling the cold when you are outside in the winter, but why do hot temperatures affect us the way they do? Momma Said, “You can’t find the answer until you ask the question.”
Also, I like to watch a series on TV called “The Eye of the Storm”. It is about first-hand witness to horrific natural disasters like tornadoes, floods and hurricanes. I watched one the other night about storm chasers witnessing the destruction of a family farm. Not a building left standing, 100-year-old trees twisted like toothpicks. But when the family finally emerged from the storm shelter, chickens and a tiny pig came walking up from the distance. My question is how? How were they not sucked up in the storm and killed?
I think my brain works on another level from normal people. I look at the world as if it is tilted and I have to find answers to questions no one else thinks to ask. Maybe I am the one that is tilted and everyone else is afraid to ask the question. Momma Said, “Seek and ye shall find.”
Ingredients:
4 cups fresh blueberries
1 1⁄2 cups granulated sugar, divided
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon lemon zest
6 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
1 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, mix together the blueberries, 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch, and lemon zest. Pour the blueberry mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Pour the melted butter evenly over the blueberries in the baking dish.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until just combined to form the batter.
Pour the batter evenly over the blueberries and melted butter. Do not stir.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the cobbler topping comes out clean.
Allow to cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired. Enjoy!
