Snow on the daffodils again. It is certainly spring in West Virginia, it snowed in my county, I get to work in another county and no snow. On the way to work I crossed a slick bridge and got a little pucker. I get to work and the sun is shining. Just pick a weather event in spring in West Virginia and wait five minutes, it is sure to happen. Momma Said, “The inconvenience is worth the beauty.”
I love this state and I am very proud to be a West Virginian. This state is steeped in history and beauty and the weather is just another add-on. We are a four-season state and each one is very unique in its own way. I say I don’t have a favorite but I must admit I really, really love spring. The reawakening of everything is very striking.
I love to see the first flowers, the first calves and lambs, the forest as it starts to green up is astounding. It is worth the drive to come through our state for each season and just watch the changes. You can travel the same roads in each season and see something very different each time.
Everyone says the Northeast is beautiful in fall, but if you have ever seen a perfect fall in West Virginia, you would change your mind. I really love to watch as the trees start to green up on the mountain ridges, it is as if a very large serpent is starting to grow hair. The rolling mountain ranges are very spectacular. Just visit us and see for yourself.
