Momma Said

I want to thank all the veterans, past and present, that have or are now fighting for our freedom. That is what this holiday is all about because without them who knows where we would be. We are one of the top countries in the world that can exercise the freedoms that we do and we have them to thank for it. Momma Said, “Some gave the ultimate sacrifice and many are still fighting their own personal battles, so don’t disrespect them.”

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Independence Day holiday. As usual I stayed home with my three 77 pounds scaredy cat dogs. It wouldn’t be quite so bad if the neighbors didn’t start the week before the 4th putting off fire crackers and whatever, and they don’t stop when the holiday is over. It goes on for weeks so by the time they finally run out of fireworks the dogs are a nervous wreck.

I did get some medicine from the vet that helps them calm down some but I don’t want to turn them into zombies every night for two weeks. I wish I had about 100 acres on top of a mountain somewhere so I didn’t have to worry about anything like this happening. Momma Said, “Wishes in one hand and crap in the other and see which one gets full first.”

We are into the full swing of summer now and the temperatures are soaring higher all the time. I hate staying in the house but it is so hot and humid I can’t seem to get anything done outside. I break into a full sauna sweat every time I walk outside and I feel like I am going to melt. I can’t see what I am doing for sweat in my eyes my clothes are soaked. But I will put up with it because living in this part of the country is worth it.

FROZEN TREATS FOR YOUR DOG

Strawberries

Blueberries

Carrots

Cucumbers

Instructions

Slice all ingredients and place in bowl or jello mold, cover with water or broth. Freeze until solid and then place outside for your dogs to enjoy on a hot day. You just have to be careful of bees so one solution is make some smaller molds instead of a big one.

You could also cut up and blend some watermelon and cucumber, freeze in ice cube molds and let them have a Pupsicle.
