Some say that a good friend is worth their weight in gold. Well, I can tell you, that is an understatement. If you are lucky enough these days to have a TRUE FRIEND you are lucky indeed. It seems they are a dying breed, someone you can trust with your innermost secrets.
I have had the misfortune to have some people in my life that I thought were good friends, only to find they were lying, untrustworthy, disloyal people. The sad part is some of them “were” my own family, (and I put an emphasis on were). It is hard when people you thought were your friends hurt you, but when it comes from a family member the hurt is indescribable.
I do believe in karma and Momma Said, “One day it will circle around and bite them in the butt.” It is hard going through life seeing these kind of people just skate through other people’s lives like nothing can touch them. They distribute hurt and pain like it is candy. Well, I have had my fill of sweets and I don’t need anything more that they are handing out. I don’t understand how people can hurt other people intentionally and not think a thing about what they are doing, except for what they can gain from the pain of others. Momma Said, “With friends like that, who needs enemies?”
It is truly a blessing for me to have what family I have left. I wish Mom and Gran were still here but that is a part of life we must contend with. I am thankful for the friends I do have that I can trust and for my sisters and brother. I love them dearly and thank God every day for having them in my life.
