The Parsons Advocate

I love my animals and try not to pick favorites, but I really love my cat.  She does this little thing when I go to bed.  Sometimes she will get on my pillow and snuggle right up to the top of my head.  There is no better way to go to sleep than to hear the vibrations of her purr on my pillow.  It is like a mini massage to my brain.

I can drift right off to sleep and not have to fight half the night to get some rest.  It is like having a vibrating fur hat on my head.  Momma Said, “Sometimes your brain needs a little TLC too.”  And also she does not get muddy when it rains like someone else I won’t mention right now.

I am having a really hard time with the new puppy.  I have changed her name from Tuff to Gracie hoping it would “girl” her up a little.  Guess what it didn’t work.  She is so stubborn, she won’t listen to me, she continually jumps on me and bites me all the time and she has dug up the entire back yard.  Also she has a very, very, very bad habit of eating poop.  So you can see why I don’t want her biting me.  She will not let me clip her nails and does not chew her food, she swallows everything whole.

I know she is just a puppy but I have never had an animal that is as stubborn as this dog.  She will just stand there and look at me when I ask her to come or stop what she is doing.  It is like having a child going through the terrible two’s.  I guess I will do what I can with her and hope she grows out of some of it.  Momma Said, “Fat chance”.

  Strawberry Lemonade Recipe

Ingredients

This recipe makes 1/2 a gallon, double recipe to make a gallon.

  • 6 cups water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • One tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup lemon juice, seedless
  • 1 1/2 cups ripe strawberries quartered

Instruction

Prepare simple syrup first by combining 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in a small saucepan.

Place over medium/low heat and stir frequently until sugar is dissolved. Set aside.

Combine strawberries, ½ cup of water, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar in a blender and blend until strawberries are completely pureed.

Pour strawberry puree through a fine-mesh sieve² into a pitcher and use a spatula to press/work as much strawberry juice through as possible.

Discard remaining pulp/seeds.

Add lemon juice and simple syrup to the pitcher.

Next, add the remaining 4 ½ cups water and stir well.

Pour over ice and serve or chill and then stir again before serving
