I have long held the belief that a dog’s health begins in its mouth. If a dog has bad breath, have your vet check its teeth. If they are bad, address it quickly. It is just like with people, your overall health can be affected by your teeth. Momma Said, “Take care of your teeth and they will take care of you.”
Amber and Bailey are taking very good care of their teeth. They chew on deer antlers all the time. They are much harder than cow bones and are an excellent way to remove tartar from the teeth. It takes the dogs forever gnawing on them to even see any substantial wear on the antler. And they are a good source of calcium. There are no additives or toxins and both dogs love them.
I want to wish everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day but try not to eat too much candy. February is already half over and it is just 34 days until spring. We can get through most of this month by watching the Olympics. Momma Said, “Before you know it, the March winds will be blowing winter away for another year.”
About this time of year Mom would be starting to clean up her yard after the winter chaos. Her yard met up with the main road through town and the cinders that the Department of Highways used on the road would get thrown into her yard. She would be out there with her rake and shovel cleaning it up in preparation of mowing the grass. It is hard for me to comprehend that if she were still with us she would be 85 this year. I just wonder if she would still try to get everything done by herself, I miss her greatly.
