Momma Said for January 27, 2015

Why does everything have to be “New and Improved”? It seems whatever the product you are using is just fine then the big companies have to new and improve it and it never works as well as it did before. And why does every cleaning product on the market have to smell like a fruit truck crashed into a flower stand?

Momma Said, “Why can’t the product just make everything smell clean?”

I have allergies to all these fake scents that are being put into every product from laundry detergent to floor cleaners. I don’t want to walk around smelling like a flower shop that has exploded. I just want my clothes to smell like they did when mom would hang them out on the cloths line in the back yard. They smelled like fresh air and sunshine.

Even in the winter, she would hang the bed sheets out on the line and they would freeze stiff. She would then bring them in and hang them around the wood stove to finish drying. Momma Said, “That was the smell of clean and it was great.” She didn’t have to use lavender, citrus or any other fake smells to make our cloths smell clean. She just used the great outdoors and that is a smell you just can’t put in a bottle.

There are many recipes for making your own laundry detergent online. The ingredients are not expensive and it is an easy project, you could even let the kids help. So if you don’t want to walk around smelling like a fruit salad Momma Said, “Take matters into your own hands and smell anyway you wish.”

After all this fuss about your smeller, let’s turn to your taste buds. I have a really good and easy recipe this week that I hope you will enjoy.

SWEET HAWAIIAN CROCK-POT CHICKEN–EASY AND YUMMMY!!

2 lb. Chicken tenderloin chunks

1 cup pineapple juice

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/3 cup soy sauce

Combine all together, cook on low in Crock-pot 6-8 hours…that’s it! Done! Serve with brown rice and you have a complete, easy meal!!
