This is a CB card for Cooper’s Restaurant which was in Davis. The late Martin “Red” Cooper was the owner and operator of the establishment. Red Cooper served as mayor for the town of Davis, was a contractor and a Christmas Tree Farmer. Many folks used C B Radios and there was a Radio station for tourist Information. Most folks will remember the demise of Red’s wife Ida Mae. She came home from shopping in town when she was kidnapped. The kidnapper had demanded $750,000.00. He made his first call to the Elkins Inter Mountain office. He made a second call to the State Police Station and had Ida Mae to talk to the Police to verify he had indeed kidnapped her. She was eventually taken to a swampy area 14 miles from her home and shot her twice. She succumbed to the shootings. The kidnapper was picked up by the police within a short amount of time. When I lived in Davis, a lady told me a list of possible women to kidnap had been found and she was number 3 on the list.
