This is a photo of Grandmother Elizabeth Bonner Snyder and some of her family. They are identified as: (back row; left to right) Carrie Snyder Cooper, Sampson Cooper, Velma Harman Harman, (middle row; left to right) Bertha (Floyd) Vandevander, Mary Cooper McCord, Emerson Cooper (front row. Left to right) Paul Cooper, Grandmother Elizabeth Snyder, Melvin Cooper. Elizabeth was born on the Dry Fork of Tucker County (Virginia at that time as West Virginia was not a state). She and a twin were daughters of America Ann Bonner and Job Parsons; Ann had a total of 5 girls by Job Parsons. Elizabeth’s twin, Mary Jane, married a Carr and went west with other of the Snyder and Carr Families. The twins were born November 5, 1844. Elizabeth or Grandmother Snyder was married to Captain Sampson Snyder December 24, 1863. His father, John Snyder, lived in Tucker County and is buried on the Lanesville Road. Sampson and Elizabeth had 12 children all who lived into adulthood: eight boys and four girls. It is interesting to note that 6 went west and 6 stayed closer home. Ideas, comments, suggestions, photos to share contact Tim Turner (304) 478-3389.
