This week’s picture is of Delvin “Dizz” Kenneth Goff, son of James and Margaret Hansford Goff. He was married to Katorah “Kacie” Leona Carper.

She was from the Martinsburg area and her father was a jeweler. They had two children: Patricia Jean (married James Willis Michael) and Delvin Goff, Jr. (married Ethel Ogden). Dizz worked at the Tannery before serving as county clerk from 1951-1969. Dizz played on the famed Parsons Football Team of 1924. This team was undefeated and unscored upon; quite an accomplishment. Dizz was an avid golfer and bowler. Katorah taught school and retired June 1974 with 32 years of service. She had taught at Pifer Mountain, Auviltown, Fairview and Parsons Graded School. She also organized the Tucker County Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Ideas or comments contact Tim Turner (304) 478-3389.
