D&E Upward Bound Students Excel in the Classroom

Elkins – The Davis & Elkins College Upward Bound program staff and instructors honored 28 students for academic achievement during the Summer Recognition Banquet. A federally funded TRiO program, Upward Bound is designed to prepare high school students for post-secondary success. The Davis & Elkins College Upward Bound program serves students from Barbour, Pendleton, Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker counties. Established during President Lyndon B. Johnson’s administration, the Upward Bound program provides services to students who would be the first generation in their family to complete a four-year degree or those who meet income guidelines. Davis & Elkins College’s Upward Bound programs receive funding, totaling $645,513, from the U.S. Department of Education with all project services provided at no costs to participants.
