Each day we witness our nation, state, and communities respond to new challenges from COVID-19. The number of cases are increasing in West Virginia and other states, requiring making tough decisions to stop the spread of the virus to protect family members and ourselves.

Last week, Eastern reopened its doors to employees that tested protocols using PPE and social distancing. President’s Cabinet met on Monday, July 20, and agreed to teach fall academic and dual credit classes online and career and technical lab courses face-to-face, practicing social distancing and using PPE.

All full-time faculty will return to campus on August 3rd to begin preparations for classes and stay on campus during the fall term. Teaching general education, academic, and dual credit classes online will help create a stable environment to teach high school, traditional, and adult learners.

Eastern successfully implemented safe practices in the spring to sustain and complete face-to-face lab courses. The college will implement similar strategies for fall classes, permitting students to experience important tactile learning associated with career and technical classes.

Eastern employees will work on campus during the fall semester to support students and services. This is subject to change if the Governor issues a stay at home order. Each day requires all of us to adapt and Eastern will continue to pivot to new circumstances.
