ELKINS, WV — Davis & Elkins College education students have started the student teaching component of their teacher certification in area schools.

Student teaching is the culminating experience in D&E’s teacher education program. Teacher candidates work full-time in public school classrooms under the mentoring of a qualified co-operating teacher. By the end of two seven-week teaching placements, student teachers have gained valuable experience in planning, teaching and managing a classroom.

Chelsi Primavero has started student teaching at Tucker Valley Elementary/Middle School and Tucker County High School. Primavero is the daughter of Tina Primavero of Parsons, W.Va.

Melissa Parsons has started student teaching at North Elementary School. Parsons is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Heckler of Hambleton, W.Va.
